Carolina Wren

This painting began with a pair of Carolina Wrens who decided to make their home in a birdhouse I had hung in our apple tree.  I loved watching them build their nest and care for their young.

There is something remarkable about these small birds -- their energy, devotion, and presence far larger than their tiny size.  This painting, is in part, a reflection on that quiet resilience and the unexpected joy found in simply paying attention.
